Cherries and chocolate are a classic combo. We are just hinting at the cherry flavor here in the icing which is the way that I like it! This is still one of my favorite basic brownie recipes. I feel a little bad about the amount of butter in this one so, I may be testing a new recipe soon:) I will be sure to post if its a keeper!

Whipped Cherry Buttercream

Buttercream with just a hint of cherry flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3-4 tbsp maraschino cherry juice

Instructions

  • Cream butter and sugar with whisk attachment on stand mixer. Whisk for about 3-5 mins.
  • Add vanilla and then the cherry juice 1 tbsp at a time until desired consistency is reached. Whisk for another 3-5 mins. Add more juice if icing is too thick.
  • Frost one 9x9 brownie/cake or 12 cupcakes.
